First Steps for the Blind does not currently receive any funding from the United Way for our program. However that can change with your help. When your company has its United Way drive each year, you can designate that your donation go directly to first steps for the Blind Inc. At least by donating it to us via the United Way, you know that it is going directly to the people who need help. You need only request a pledge card from the United Way Coordinator and write in First Steps for the Blind and you will have pledged your donation to help our people. We do appreciate it and our clients will benefit directly from this donation. Please keep in mind that nearly one third of our clients live below poverty level and struggle to survive, let alone buy the necessary adaptive equipment they need.
