MEET OUR STAFF OF VOLUNTEERS WAITING TO HELP YOU!!!

Cathy Pyper is the founder of First Steps for the Blind. Blinded by Diabetic Retinopathy in 1997, she is dedicated to assisting others losing their vision.

Peter Pyper is the financial officer for First Steps for the Blind. He too was blinded by disease in 1997. He and Cathy met and were married a year later.

Loretta O’Connor is our Rehabilitation Teacher. She also lost her vision to Diabetic Retinopathy. As a dedicated teacher, Loretta taught school for many years and then was a rehab teacher with Rehabilitation Services for the Blind. She now volunteers her time and efforts to First Steps for the Blind. She is also the head cheerleader for our team.

Amy Hochstedler is the Assistant Director and offers a pair of working eyes and great assistance to the families of the clients we help.

Mrs. Ruthie Clark is our web creator and takes care of all matters pertaining to the web site. She handles the technical end of things and offers ideas. Any errors are completely the fault of Cathy Pyper. (That’s me)

Vickie Hall, a banker assists us with business forms and other matters that just cannot be done without a handy pair of eyes.

Virginia Williams is our data entry specialist. Great with a computer she handles things that would take me hours to do.

We feel so very proud of the fact that as our clients come to accept that life has changed but it isn’t over, they want to help us with the organization. We feel very fortunate to have them not only as our clients and volunteers, but most importantly our friends.
